IRT Raij: I cannot open IE and thus cannot rectify this annoying problem.
This is probably another of Microsoft's tricks to force users to get MSIE. Try going Start+Run, then typing IEXPLORE.EXE . You don't have to use MSN Messenger though, I wouldn't trust that. There are other clients with better features that will allow you to use MSN as well as the other IM networks together.
You can try Trillian, GAIM, aMSN, and many more.
There's a way to make MSN Messenger open your default browser instead of what Microsoft wants you to open, which is installing Messenger Plus! and the StuffPlug-NG plugin over it, but it's messy and you'd still be using MSN Messenger which is not recommended for security reasons.
I set Mozilla as my default browser, and simply my msn mail opens in Mozilla, no problem like yours. Also drop MSN, cuz it sucks, and use Trillian, which is obviously far better. Like MSN=IE, Trillian=Mozilla. See?
Thank you very much Wiseman! Your suggestions did indeed work, and msn works fine. Thank you, I really appreciate it
Also, I downloaded Trillian, it's all prepared...but the MSN aspect of it is still connected to IE. In fact, it doesn't really do anything.....what do I do with it?
I'd rather seeing a Mozilla-built IM program, with it's own network, and stuff... and free like Firefox is. Though, it would be something redundant, isn't it?
Currently developing my image database technology. Once ready, it'll allow me to classify images in a database way more flexible than ACDSee's and others. For example, I'll be able to enter complex queries like:
PM-VIEW "dir=media/.*;xeno(gears|saga);anime;rating=[5-9]"
to browse image files that:
- Belong to the media directory (thus not hentai)
- Are either Xenogears or Xenosaga pics
- Are anime pics
- Have a rating from 5 to 9
This system basically allows me to do anything. Categories are added automagically, I can use category trees, search with regular expressions (matches, sounds like, ranges, etc.), I can build AND and OR queries (and combinations of these), etc.
I can still store pics in folders, relocate them, browse them using ACDSee (even those selected with GET and VIEW operatioins), have several databases, export/import/merge/split databases, mass add/edit/delete categories and files, extend the database with new commands, and so on.
Besides this, I'm thinking on implementing an HTTP client that will show galleries and pics in a webpage on advanced queries like these. I have several ideas to make the web image browser 100 times better than anything the web ever had (really), including full screen browsing and one-key-next-pic (I mean stuff you can actually fap with). I hope I have time to develop this.
Hmmm! interesting, how are you doing it? PHP and MySQL connectivity and for the web? or is it a personal application for your use only?...
I'll be using PHP alone, I'll do the database myself in text format while keeping it efficient enough (I have a couple ideas for that, and if it gets shitty, I'll use reverse multilevel indexes). This was a requirement for the system; I want a database I can edit by hand if I want, and I can process with Perl/PHP scripts easily. Think the ACDSee database: once you have spent 200 hours classifying your stuff with it, you belong to it. You can't switch to another program, add new features, or even process it to do some massive operation.
The graphic clients will be web applications, so you'd be able to query, classify and browse pictures (and probably upload too), but I don't plan on running any kind of service with it. I will, however, release it in 4chan, in case somebody feels like doing this. This is unlike somebody who is running a similar system, but all he does is brag about it without releasing the software so you can run your own server. Part of my system was inspired on that, only it'll be more flexible, and freely available to /b/tards and /g/ur- er, /g/eeks.
Geez, i got to know why was my internet being SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow, and crappy. It was because of the Antivirus! why would this be???... now i have it disabled, and now everything goes again SMOOTH like the silk... why can it be?... Firewall is running also, and doesn't complain about odd connections either...
There are three reasons why it could be that slow:
- It was scanning every TCP/IP connection's payload for viruses
- It was scanning every new file created, including your browser's cache, and the scanner was slow
- It was scanning every new file created, including your browser's cache, and it had buggy definitions
In any case, it's not recommended to keep any antiviruses running in the background, not even services scanning just a couple things. It's always better to keep performance and memory for your applications, and scan every incoming executable/scriptable file by hand.
